Sihanoukville Beaches

Sihanoukville beaches and waterfront is the best in the country with enough good accommodations,


short distances to and from and a good functioning infrastructure, roads could be better but a great grilled steak in front of Ochheuteal Beach plus the red South China Sea sunset is hard to beat. Behind are plenty of waterfront bars, some discos and other amusement. If you want to have some fun with women better take one from Phnom Penh with you, there is almost nothing here.

The waterfront is perfect for family vacation and for individual traveler, there is no mass tourism yet. This is the seaside destination for many from Phnom Penh, just as Hua Hin is for Bangkokians. Its also not far from the Thai border at Koh Kong, the place was not much affected by the civil war.

The place above run under guesthouse but is a good hotel with more than 100 tv channels including BBC, Chinese, Thai, German etc. for $ 20-30,- per night, set into the third row behind the waterfront with only 5 minutes walk to the sea.

Accommodation are plenty, from the guesthouse, cottages, hotel, resorts everything is here and what makes it especially interesting all is very affordable since prices are relatively low, a good guesthouse is available from around $ 15,- per night up to the best beach resort in the area which is Sokha Beach Resort for around $ 100,- this prices are floating.

There are also spectacular day trip destinations 


such as Bokor National Park, better from Koh Kong accessible is Sre Ambel in the Cardamom Mountains, Tatai Waterfall and Koh Poi Waterfall and rapids plus some more to explore. Some adventure could be renting a dirt bike and have a look around. Since most roads outside the city are real bad, except the one to Phnom Penh, Koh Kong and Kep it promises some new exploration.

They just start to move beyond the monument only sightseeing theme and they are on the right track, what they need is some better infrastructure in particular some roads to reach the places. No roads, no travel there this is by far not a similar situation as in Thailand also with nightlife.

Accessible Cambodia's beaches All waterfronts are at the South China Sea and with at least a minimum of infrastructure are not many. Sokha Beach at Sihanoukville

Sokha Beach Resort at Sihanoukville is probably the best This is the waterfront of Sokha Beach in a small bay and seems to be a private one a real pretty spot at Cambodia's South China Sea. The place is probably the best in the south of the country related to the ocean. The hotel (book it here) has amazing similarities to the former Regent Hotel in Cha Am southeast of Bangkok.

Ochheuteal Beach in Sihanoukville This is the top waterfront in Cambodia when counting visitors and infrastructure the hotels' & resorts plus apartments and restaurants. Bars nightlife and almost all activities to pull it together there are only 3 serious nightlife spots in Cambodia that are Phnom Penh were plenty of Khmer girls are available after it's Siem Reap but the life after darkness fell there is without women.  The Ochheuteal strip at Sihanoukville is somehow in between this two in terms of nightlife size and no pretty women available. Koh Kong can also offer a few clubs and discos catering mainly to the local people there are no tourists. The only foreigners around are daytripper for a visa run from Thailand and some other who are continuing to Phnom the next day on Thai visa matters.
